At HM Precision Grinding we realised that in any form of manufacturing, efficiency is the key, be that price or time senstitive.
At the heart of most machine tools is the machine spindle. When this fails, costs and deliveries “blow out”, and in todays manufacturing environment this can spell disaster. The cost and time taken to have a machine tool spindle sent back overseas can be crippling to say the least.

This is why we developed our own “state of the art” clean room, whereby all of our assembly of spindles can be carried out as intended by the original manufacturer.
Spindle Repair:
Not only are bearings replaced, but spindles are completely overhauled including:
All components are checked, reground, hardchrome plated and reground if necessary,
Electrical testing is carried out if spindles are motorized
All components of clamp assembly and clamp piston are checked and repaired where necessary.
Clamp forces are also checked, to ensure sufficient clamping of tooling.
Spindle is balanced pre and post assembly to obtain a perfectly balanced unit.
On completion of assembly, spindles are run in until we are satisfied that the units are ready to go back into production.
We pride ourselves in being able to return a spindle back to the customer, so as to perform like the day the spindle was originally fitted to the machine.

Over the years our customers have come from many areas of manufacturing, including the motor industry. This includes many of the Japanese and European manufacturers of machine tools, including Cross Huller (MAG Powertrain), whom over the years we have developed a relationship to the point where we were granted a licence to repair their spindles for the South East Asian Region. This includes the older motorized spindles, which incorporate the CYTEC clamping system, as well as the second generation, which incorporates the OTT-Jakob System.
We are able to repair all brands of machine tool spindles, for all modern high speed machine applications, and also for the older style machines, were at times spare parts are no longer available, as we also have the ability to be able to reverse engineer most components. One of our abilities is also to literally bring a spindle “back from the dead” at a greatly reduced cost as compared to a new replacement.
